Balinese “stone” is not one material. The two that matter for Buddha
statues are paras and lava, and choosing between them is the single most
important decision for an outdoor piece.
Paras stone Buddha statues
(Kerobokan)
Paras Kerobokan is a soft, pale grey volcanic tuff that carvers love
because it takes fine detail — the folds of a robe, the curl of the
hair, the calm of the face. A paras stone Buddha statue from
Bali has that characteristic soft grey tone that weathers to a
gentle patina and grows moss beautifully in a shaded, humid garden. It
is the classic temple look. Paras is ideal for covered patios,

We carve stone Buddhas from around 30 cm up to life-size and
monumental. As a rough guide:
- 30–60 cm — tabletop, shelf, altar, small entrance
nook. - 60–120 cm — patio, courtyard corner, spa
reception. - 120–180 cm — garden focal point, hotel lobby,
temple-style presence. - 180 cm and above — monumental commissions for
resort grounds and large landscapes (carved to order).

The single question we ask every buyer: where will it
live? A shaded Ubud-style garden, a covered patio, a
sun-blasted rooftop and a salt-sprayed coastal villa are four different
worlds for a stone statue.
- Shaded / humid / covered → paras is perfect; expect
(and enjoy) gentle moss and patina. - Fully exposed / hot / dry → paras works but seal
it; lava is more forgiving. - Coastal / salt air / heavy rain → choose lava and a
